Getting to the
Isle of Wight is very simple

All you need to do is get yourself to one of the four mainland ferry ports at Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington or Southsea.

After a short crossing, you will arrive on the Island and you’ll be at the Isle of Wight Festival in no time at all. It couldn’t be easier!

Big Green Coach are offering packages from 13 locations countrywide which pick you up, take you on the ferry and drive you direct to the Festival. What could be easier!

There are two companies that operate car ferry travel across the water from the mainland to the Isle of Wight. Red Funnel operates a crossing from Southampton to East Cowes (1hr crossing). Wightlink operates two services, one from Lymington to Yarmouth (40min crossing) and the other from Portsmouth to Fishbourne (45min crossing).

All you need to do is book your travel, drive to the ferry terminal, board the ferry in your car, drive off at the other side and follow the directional signage to the Festival. You can park at the Festival site. We recommend that you pay for your car parking in advance when you buy your Festival ticket.

Big Green Coach is once again the OFFICIAL and EXCLUSIVE coach travel partner to Isle of Wight Festival 2017.

We have official IOW weekend camping tickets with coach travel as a package, or if you’re lucky enough to already have a festival ticket, you can simply buy your return travel with us.

All coaches arrive on Thursday with additional services from London on Friday.

If you are car-sharing to the Isle of Wight Festival you will be able to park in one of the priority car parks which are closer to the festival (meaning less of a walk to the campsites).

If you share your car you can also share the parking cost, one parking ticket required per car.

Register for your priority parking permit in 3 easy steps:

  • Register yourself and your journey here.
  • Contact your matches or respond to match requests
  • Once your car-share is arranged give feedback on the contacts section to state that you are sharing
  • Confirm your are sharing within the ‘Contact’s’ section of your carshare account & print the priority parking permit.

Display the permit in your windscreen on arrival to the festival and priority car-parks. There are 2 priority carparks. The first is located  at the front of Car Park Red 2 (Red Funnel traffic) which is situated closest to the campsite entrance gates. You enter this car park from the public road network via Gate Red 2 on East Cowes Road.

The second priority carpark is located at the front left hand side of Car Park White 1 which is the closest area to the pedestrian exit towards the campsite. You enter this from the public road network by entering via Gate White 1 from Whippingham Road. All will be clearly signposted.

If you don’t want to bring your car, you can travel across the water as a foot passenger from one of the ferry terminals on the mainland.

Red Funnel

Red Funnel offers two services for people travelling on foot: the ferry from Southampton to East Cowes or the Red Jet from Southampton to West Cowes. There are bus stations at both Cowes’ terminals where you can catch the bus to take you directly to the Festival.

Wightlink

Wightlink offers two services for people travelling on foot: the ferry from Lymington to Yarmouth and the Catamaran from Portsmouth Harbour to Ryde. There are bus stations at both Island terminals where you can catch the bus to take you directly to Festival.

* We would not advise taking the Portsmouth to Fishbourne ferry if you are travelling without a vehicle, as there is no transport at the Fishbourne terminal to take you to the Festival.

Hovertravel

Hovertravel operates a hovercraft service from Southsea to Ryde. A bus service is available in Ryde for transport to the Festival.

Water taxis

Water taxis operate from the Red Funnel terminals at East and West Cowes directly into the Island Harbour Marina. There is a short walk from the Marina to the Campsite entrance. If you require further information on water taxis please go to the Red Funnel website.

Rib transfers

Rib transfers operate from Hamble, Southampton directly to the Island Harbour Marina. From here there is a 5 minute walk from the Marina to the Campsite entrance.
